A Lasting Memory
Time was mid 1980s. I lived in Layton. My parents were flying through, and had a two or three hour layover in SLC. We (myself, wife and four children (ages 8-15) went down to see them. At that time, we were allowed to meet passengers at the gates (no security). After our visit, we were walking my parents to their gate. We watched a woman (obviously very drunk) attempt to leave the glassed in smoking area, missing the door and smacking into a glass wall panel. She recoiled, started forward and did it again. Then, she moved to the side and exited the door. My mother (in her late 60s) gathered my children and told them all how proud she was of them for not laughing at the poor woman. After my parent’s aircraft departed the gate, my family was walking back towards the parking garage. My youngest daughter pointed at the smoking area glass and shouted, “Look. Lip prints.” Sure enough, the woman had left a perfect set of lip prints on the glass. We all broke into wild laughter. To this day, saying “Lip Prints” in my family elicits laughter. – David |
