Salt Lake International Airport

My first – and best – airport experience

My father worked in Idaho Falls for the Atomic Energy Commission’s Chicago office in the 1960s and flew through SLC for his work. During a Christmas shopping trip to SLC one Thanksgiving, he treated us to dinner in the sole terminal’s restaurant. It had a view of the airliners and the food was great. Mom and dad let me play on the world map on the floor for a while, too. I was in heaven, thinking airplanes were marvels and looking up to my father who had flown them in WW II.

It was my first airport experience and it will always be the best.
