New News TSA, airport officials prepared for record number of travelers expected to depart SLC during 2023 Presidents’ Day weekend

Officials with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) are anticipating that Monday, Feb. 20 will likely be the busiest day on record for operation at SLC. High passenger volumes that day are being driven by the 2023 NBA All-Star Game, which will be played at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City on Sunday, Feb. 19 and the holiday weekend that will bring a large number of outdoor recreation enthusiasts to the area.

SLC Airport Welcomes Passengers Home for the Holidays

The airport is expecting thousands of passengers this weekend as passengers travel home for the holidays.

The busiest travel days for the holiday season are projected to be Thursday, Dec. 22, Friday, Dec. 23 and again on Monday, Dec. 26. On each one of these days, up to 30,000 passengers are expected to come through the airport’s front doors with more making connecting flights post security.

Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, the Gary Sinise Foundation, and presenting sponsor American Airlines, will bring more than 1,900 family members of our nation’s fallen heroes - those whose loved ones have lost their lives serving in the United States military – to Orlando for a special trip to Walt Disney World (WDW) Resort. This special event through the Gary Sinise Foundation’s Snowball Express program is back for the first time after a two-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic and is bigger than ever with the most families ever flown with the program this year.

SLC International Airport to Host Art Open House

Salt Lake City Department of Airports (SLCDA) is celebrating its art collection and the artists who contributed to it at a public open house on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022. Many of the fine art pieces that were displayed in the former airport now hang in the new SLCDA office space, which will be open for a special viewing.

New Concession Opening in SLC Airport Concourse B: Treat

Ribbon Cutting for Treat: Treat—an upscale health and wellness center—is opening at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) in Concourse B. SLC is only the third airport nationwide to open a Treat location. Treat offers health services, such as IV drips, injections and wellness products. The location also offers relaxation services, a meditation room, and visual decompression with VR goggles. This is the final concession to open as part of Phase 1 of The New SLC.
