Statement from SLC Department of Airports Regarding Airport Incident

At 9:54 p.m. on Monday, January 1, a 30 year-old male breached an airport security door at SLC International Airport (SLCPD) and accessed the airfield. The individual ran to the south end of the airport’s west runway where deicing operations were underway and crawled into an aircraft engine that was not running. The plane was enroute from SLC to SFO.

SLC International Airport to Dedicate New Entry Feature

Salt Lake City Department of Airports (SLCDA) will be dedicating a new entry feature titled “The Peaks,” which is a monumental sculpture imagined, fabricated and installed by Artist Gordon Huether. The Peaks art installation was inspired by the Wasatch Mountains and pays tribute to Utah’s five Native American tribes and the five elements of the natural world.

SLC International and Delta Air Lines Celebrate Completion of The New SLC Phase 2

The completion of Phase 2 of The New SLC Redevelopment Program was marked by the 6:44 a.m. departure of flight #349 to Atlanta. During an early-morning ceremony, a 45’ wide by 14’ tall curtain opened to reveal the remaining 13 gates and a dozen new shops and restaurants on Concourse A-east.

SLC International Airport Celebrates Completion of The New SLC-Phase 2

Salt Lake City Department of Airports (SLCDA) and Delta Air Lines are unveiling the final 13 gates on Concourse A-east along with 11 concessions. Delta’s flight #394 to Atlanta will be the first flight out of the new gates.

The Hoberman Arch Finds a Permanent Home at SLC International

In homage to the 2002 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office, the Department of Airports and Salt Lake City-Utah Committee for the Games partnered to unveil the resurrected Hoberman Arch at SLC Airport’s exit to welcome travelers to Salt Lake City. The massive arch, which formed the backdrop of the 2002 Medals Plaza stage, sits on a base that recognizes Salt Lake City’s role as an Olympic and Paralympic host city.
