SLC International Airport Celebrates One-year Anniversary
Today, the Salt Lake City Department of Airports (SLCDA) celebrates one year since opening The New SLC-Phase 1—with the distinction of being the first new U.S. hub airport built in the 21st Century—while announcing LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

SLC International to Mark First 365 Days
One year ago on Sept. 15, 2020, the Salt Lake City Department of Airports opened the first phase of The New SLC, which included a new parking garage, terminal and Concourse A-west. Six weeks later on Oct. 27, the remainder of Phase 1 was unveiled with the opening of Concourse B-west. The SLCDA Executive Director Bill Wyatt will join Mayor Erin Mendenhall on Sept. 15, 2021, to mark the first 365 days and announce a national sustainability award.

Salt Lake City Department of Airports to Present Final Master Plan for Input
Salt Lake City is securing its position as a global aviation hub by building a brand-new airport that will serve the region for decades to come. The New SLC Redevelopment Program was envisioned more than 20 years ago in the airport’s current Master Plan to address projected passenger growth.

It’s a Wrap: SLC Department of Airports Finalizes Master Plan
Salt Lake City has secured its position as a global aviation hub by opening a brand-new airport that will serve the region for decades to come. To prepare for the future, the Salt Lake City Department of Airports (SLCDA) is updating its Master Plan to determine future facility requirements that will be needed to serve the area and accommodate future air transportation demand for the next 20 years.

Lufthansa announces Eurowings service between SLC and Frankfurt
The Lufthansa Group now already offers exciting vacation destinations on long haul tourist routes for summer 2022. In addition to four more routes from Frankfurt, including Salt Lake City, the Munich hub will again be integrated more strongly into the Lufthansa Group's long-haul tourist offering.

TSA, SLC officials to discuss summer travel outlook, changes to screening procedures
Ahead of what is anticipated to be a busy summer travel season, officials with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) will host a media availability on Tuesday, May 18 at 10 a.m. to discuss what those who are planning to travel by air in the coming months need to know. This is the first summer travel season for the new SLC terminal and helpful navigation and other tips will be provided.

Demolition of Former Delta Tower Marks Milestone in Airport Construction Program
Demolition of the former airport facilities continues to move forward on schedule to make way for building Phase II of The New SLC Redevelopment Program. A major milestone in the demolition will occur on Feb. 15 when what is known as the “Delta Tower” comes down.

Media Availability for XpressCheck COVID Testing Site Launch
XpresCheck will be opening a COVID-19 testing site at SLC International Airport on Wednesday, January 20 at 9 a.m. The location will be offering rapid molecular COVID tests and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests.
The Salt Lake City International Airport location will be open Thursday through Monday, 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. in Concourse A, post-security, for ticketed passengers and employees.

SLC International Commemorates 100-year Anniversary
The year was 1920 and World War I had just ended, women had gained the right to vote and a jazz musician named Louis Armstrong was becoming a household name. Meanwhile, on a cold, windswept plain near the Great Salt Lake, a group of visionaries gathered to break ground on Salt Lake City’s first permanent airplane landing field that came to be known as Woodward Field.
