Remembrance Event Planned at SLC International Airport
The Event is Taking Place on 9-10 to Allow Trade Workers to Participate

What: Construction workers finishing up The New SLC Redevelopment Program’s final phase are planning a Remembrance Event to honor and recognize first responders and those who lost their lives on 9-11.

The Holder-Big D construction team has held this event for the past 10-plus years since The New SLC started construction.   

When: Thursday, Sept. 10 at 7 a.m.
             Program begins at 7 a.m.; however, the media shuttle will leave at 6:30 a.m.
             (The event is held the day prior to 9-11 so all members of the construction team can           
             participate.)     

Program:
Welcome and event introduction: Senior Safety Director Angel Medina and Safety Coordinator Jayde Garretson
- Bagpipers and drummer begin performance and march to the front of the display area
- Emergency responders follow the bagpipers and take their designated positions at the front of the display
- Bagpipers conclude performance
- National Anthem
- Opening remarks and commemorative speech
- Closing song: Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)
- Bagpipers and drummer lead the ceremonial exit

Where: Meet at the Airport Media Parking Lot, which will be open beginning at 6 a.m. A shuttle will transport media onto the airfield.

The shuttle will leave promptly at 6:30 a.m.
