TSA advises public to be prepared for surge in summer travel at SLC

SALT LAKE CITY - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) announced that today marks the beginning of the peak summer travel period. TSA projects it will screen more than 851,000 people through the security checkpoints between now and August 15, 2019, an average of 26,600 per day.

TSA, SLC officials to provide update ahead of summer travel surge

Officials with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) will host a media availability Monday, July 15, 2019, at 1 p.m., to discuss what travelers can expect at SLC during the peak summer travel period, which begins Monday and continues through August 15. They will highlight busiest times of day, busiest days of the week and provide helpful tips to make the security screening process go smoothly.

Flight For Autism Takes Off June 22

Flying can be overwhelming for children who are uncomfortable with new situations and unfamiliar surroundings. The “Taking Flight for Autism,” program is designed to acclimate children to the airport environment and practice procedures to help them become more comfortable when traveling by air.

Airport personnel will demonstrate the process for flight check-in, security screening and boarding a Delta Air Lines plane. In addition, a full flight crew will simulate a flight. As part of the program, families will be able to orient their children to the noise and sensations of the airport and the flight experience.

SLC International Airport Reports Another Record Year

The numbers have been tabulated and the results show another record-breaking year at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC)—the third consecutive year of passenger growth. From January through December 2018, passenger counts totaled 25,554,244, which is an increase of 5.6 percent. This is the first time SLC has logged more than 25 million passengers within a 12-month period.
