Memorial Day weekend is the traditional kick-off to summer travel, and passengers should plan ahead when traveling through Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC). SLC expects the majority of passengers to depart on the Thursday and Friday leading up to the holiday weekend. On Thursday, May 25, 26,000 passengers are expected through the front door and on Friday, May 26, about 27,000 passengers are expected to depart from SLC. The same number of passengers are expected to arrive at SLC each day as well. These numbers are consistent with Memorial Day numbers from 2022. The first flight to depart from Salt Lake City International Airport’s Concourse A-east pulled back from Gate A-29 at 7:05 a.m. MST on Delta Air Line’s flight #394 to Atlanta with approx. 200 passengers on board. During an early morning ceremony, a 45’ wide by 14’ tall curtain opened to unveil half of Concourse A-east and the first five operating gates. It is the first look the public has had of the east side of Concourse A, which will mirror Concourse A-west when completed. Salt Lake City Department of Airports (SLCDA) and Delta Air Lines are unveiling the first five gates and half of Concourse A-east. The first flight out will be Delta’s flight #394 to Atlanta. The program begins Tuesday, May 16 at 5:30 a.m. Media should plan to be onsite at 5 a.m. to pick up a gate pass to go through security screening. TSA is requesting media and guests for the event use the Pre-Check Lane to expedite the screening process. The Salt Lake City Dept. of Airports is planning for the future of South Valley Regional Airport (SVR) and will hold a Master Plan meeting on Tuesday, April 11, from 6-8 p.m. The community is invited to attend the second of three public meetings to learn about the master planning process, ask questions and provide input about the future of SVR. The Salt Lake City Dept. of Airports is planning for the future of Tooele Valley Airport (TVY) and will hold a Master Plan meeting on Thursday, April 13, from 6-8 p.m. The community is invited to attend a public meeting to learn about the master planning process, ask questions and provide input about the future of TVY.
