SLC International Offers Tips for Holiday Travel

Travelers are packing their bags and heading out to the airport to destinations near and far for the Christmas holiday. SLC International is preparing for an increase in passenger traffic on Dec. 21 and 22, and again on Dec. 26, 28 and 29. The airport expects upwards of 30,000 passengers to go through screening on those days and as many passengers to arrive.

Tips help passengers prepare for their flights:

  • Download the SLC International app or go to slcairpot.com to get information about navigating the airport.
  • Arrive two hours prior for domestic flights and three hours when traveling internationally.
  • Bring a REAL ID or another acceptable form of ID, such as a passport.
  • Take the uncertainty out of finding airport parking and reserve parking in advance at slcairport.com
  • Check the airline’s app or website for your flight status and for possible weather delays.
  • Pack appropriately and know what can and cannot be brought through security in a carry-on bag. Strollers, baby carriers and car booster seats are allowed through the checkpoint but must be screened.
  • Bring activities to engage children during long waits and don’t forget to check out Ally the Allosaurus in Concourse B.
  • Check out new art installation—Swallows in Flight—in Concourse B-west.
  • Explore six more shops and restaurants on Concourse B-east as well as two new lounges—AmEx Centurion Club and Delta Sky Club—for members only.
  • Access one of three Sensory Rooms designed by Kulture City for individuals who may need a break in a quieter environment.
  • Enjoy the holiday performers scheduled at the airport on Dec. 22, 23 and 24, with everything from jazz music to guitar players to create a calming travel environment.
  • Remain in the Park and Wait lot for arriving guests until passengers have picked up their bags and are curbside. (If the Arrivals curb is congested, consider using the Departures curb to pick up passengers.)
  • View the accessibility page to learn how SLC can best assist/accommodation passengers with disabilities.
