Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
The Salt Lake City International Airport is participating in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program. A Sunflower lanyard, wristband or pin alerts others that the person has a hidden disability that may not be obvious to the casual observer. The program assists passengers with hidden disabilities better navigate the airport. Oftentimes, passengers with a disability use or carry something – whether that’s a wheelchair, guide dog, hearing aid or white cane – that visibly indicates what the disability is. Other disabilities, such as autism, dementia, mental health issues or learning difficulties, are not so obvious. Wearing a Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard, wristband or pin is a subtle way of letting others know that the wearer may require additional support, assistance or a bit more time to navigate the airport. Sunflower lanyards, wristbands and pins are available at the Airport Visitor Information Desk located on level 2 by the escalators.
