In March 1997, the Salt Lake City ARFF Training Center opened its doors to Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighters (ARFF) from around the world as the first FAA approved ARFF Training Center in the Western United States. After thoughtful consideration, a decision has been made to close the ARFF Training Center effective June 30, 2018. Due to the age of the Center, the projected costs to maintain, upgrade and operate the facility cannot be justified. Funds for the maintenance and operation of the facility will be provided through June 30, 2018, at which point the ARFF Training Center will close. The Center has played an important role for the past 21 years in training thousands of firefighters from around the world. Thanks to everyone who has dedicated their time and effort to growing and operating the ARFF Training Center.
